Édouard Lambert Institute of Comparative Law
The Édouard Lambert Institute of Comparative Law, which was founded in Lyon in 1921, is named after its founder. Édouard Lambert, a pioneer in the field, set a model that has been imitated in many parts of the world. The Lyon Institute was indeed the first university institute entirely devoted to the study of foreign legal systems and their comparison. The Édouard Lambert Institute of Comparative Law participates in most innovative scientific and pedagogical programmes, promoting an interdisciplinary and transnational approach. It belongs to the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 Faculty of Law.
Nowadays, the Institute has four main tasks :
1 - The teaching of foreign legal systems and of the comparative method ; the delivering of university diplomas in foreign and comparative law ;
2 - The co-ordination of individual and collective research, within the Research Team in International, European and Comparative Law (EDIEC) of the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 as well as in european and international networks ;
3 - The development and co-ordination of relationships with other french or foreign organizations in Comparative Law ;
4 - The coordination of international exchange programmes for students and professors of the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, Faculty of Law, so as the one of the dual degree programme in English and French laws leading to LLB and M1, in partnership with the university of Essex (England).
